Vanessa Akins, Huntsville
Utilities
"This
year has been filled with many challenges for me, personally and professionally.
Thankfully, I have had a wonderful support system in the ladies, my
friends, in EWI.
EWI has helped
enhance my public speaking skills by giving me an opportunity to
work on several committees and serve as chapter membership director.
Membership Director is a magnanimous task and definitely is not
a position for the timid. This position has taken me outside of
my comfort zone and helped me think outside the box. I am grateful
for the challenge.
I always
enjoy the networking opportunities because meeting new people and
learning about various businesses is very informative and educational.
EWI helps me to continuously develop and enhance my leadership skills
and this professional development will help me advance in my career
at Huntsville Utilities.
EWI is an
excellent organization and if I could only be a part of one professional
organization, EWI would be the one I would select because it stands
head and shoulders above the rest. Membership in EWI definitely
has its privileges!"

"The first business contact I made when we moved
to Huntsville was Executive Women International. Although EWI was
asking me to be a speaker for an upcoming meeting, after meeting
the members, I knew these women were business leaders I needed to
be associated with in order to grow my business.
I immediately
joined. I can directly connect $20K in business from EWI connections.
In addition to the business connections I have made, the friendships
are priceless. I have benefited from the expertise of many members,
enjoyed being part of committees and the serving on the board, and
participating in multiple philanthropy projects. I know that our
chapter has a positive impact in the community. I highly recommend
being part of EWI."
