EWI of Huntsville congratulates its 2010 scholarship winners

EWI of Huntsville recently awarded college scholarships to two young women in our community. Ashleigh Davis of Austin High School, winner of the EWI Scholarship Program (EWISP), was awarded a $1,500 scholarship and Kate Blake of UAHuntsville, winner of the Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship Program, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. EWI of Huntsville hosts fourth annual Executive Women of Tomorrow Conference

EWI of Huntsville presents Cruisin’ the Road to Success, its fourth annual Executive Women of Tomorrow Conference, on Saturday, February, 20, 2010. The conference, which provides young women in grades 8-12 with valuable education and career planning information and tools, will be held at the Mark C. Smith Conference Center at ADTRAN, Inc. EWI's 2009 Reading Rally a Success!
EWI of Huntsville partnered with community organizations Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama and Girls Incorporated, holding its Reading Rally event at Crestwood Medical Center’s Women’s Center on October 20th. More than 30 girls in kindergarten through third grade enjoyed an afternoon of activities including creating and illustrating their own storybooks, face painting, designing bookmarks, and other art and craft events. Karen Ouriel of Armstrong Relocation, an EWI member firm, arrived dressed as the featured book character “Pinkalicious” and read the story to the children as though she were Pinkalicious. Thank you to our donors, sponsors and volunteers for helping us in our mission to promote reading and writing to children.

Mark your calendars for the annual EWI Reading Rally

EWI of Huntsville will host its annual Reading Rally on Tuesday, October 20 from 3:30-5:30 pm at Crestwood’s Women’s Center, located at 185 Chateau Drive. Make plans to attend our Girls' Day Out with the K-3 girls of Big Brothers/Big Sisters! The goal of our Reading Rally events is to bring the gift of reading to all children and to demonstrate an excitement for reading through Chapter and community volunteers. The Downtown Rescue Mission named Non-Profit of the Year
EWI of Huntsville member firm The Downtown Rescue Mission was named Non-Profit of the Year at the annual Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County Small Business Awards Celebration held on September 8, 2009. This annual event spotlights local entrepreneurs for their outstanding accomplishments as small business leaders. The 2009 awards featured 215 nominations in seven categories and 85 contenders, 18 of which were selected as finalists. Congratulations to Bonnie Temple, EWI representative and senior director of finance for The Downtown Rescue Mission. Your EWI community celebrates with you!

Executive Women International (EWI) of Huntsville held its annual Executive Dinner on Tuesday, August 4th at The Westin. Ron Klein, Founder and CEO of Belzon, Incorporated was the guest speaker for the evening and awards were presented for the following: Executive of the Year - James Matthews, Senior VP and CFO, ADTRAN, Inc.; Representative of the Year - Donna Bell Corbett, Communication and Integration Manager, SAIC; Rookie of the Year - Angela Giles Moulton, Education Director, Sci-Quest and VIP, Vanessa Akins, Executive Assistant, Huntsville Utilities.
